Ana-Maria Ciaușu, subprefect al județului Olt, a anunțat demisia sa din Partidul Național Liberal într-o postare pe Facebook în care a făcut acuzații.
Ana-Maria Ciaușu, subprefect of Olt, appointed by the National Liberal Party (PNL), resigned from the party on Friday, November 3, 2023. In a Facebook post, Ciaușu explains the reasons, making public a message sent to Gigel Știrbu, the new branch leader, and accusing him of only seeking to obtain a new parliamentary mandate.

The scandal within the PNL Olt seems to have no end. It became public at the beginning of August when the PNL prefect Florin Homorean was replaced by Mario De Mezzo, the latter being brought from Bucharest with the explanation that the PNL is playing along with the PSD at the local level, and the situation needs to be changed.
Since then, changes have started at the top of several institutions, as it becomes increasingly evident that there are at least two factions within the PNL Olt branch: the faction of the former leader, Senator Liviu Voiculescu, and the faction of the former Minister of Culture, Deputy Gigel Știrbu, who managed to impose the current prefect. Earlier this week, Gigel Știrbu officially took over the leadership of the branch after Senator Liviu Voiculescu resigned, citing the need for peace within the branch.
However, the resignation of Deputy Prefect Ana-Maria Ciaușu (former Secretary-General of the PNL Olt) came as a surprise because Ciaușu had already been removed from the branch’s leadership structure by the old team led by Liviu Voiculescu. From what Deputy Prefect Ana-Maria Ciaușu, who has been fighting a tough battle with cancer in recent years, says today, she does not have much in common with the current team either. Ciaușu stated, for „Adevărul”, that she did not join the PSD, as her former colleagues from the PNL already suspect. „I did not join the PSD. If I had joined the PSD, I would have written that too,” said Ciaușu.
„(…) Today, 11/3/2023, I resigned as a member of the National Liberal Party, Olt branch! Why? Because… I have lived up to this age, assuming in all cases where I could have affected someone the phrase ‘silence is golden’! And I have said what I had to say either privately to the interlocutor or within the institutional framework where I found myself without making any other comments or public statements. But because for a long time, what has been happening to me in the PNL Olt organization has affected me (interpret this as you wish), today I decided to make public a message that I sent to the interim president of the PNL Olt and, along with this message, I also submitted my resignation (even in politics, too much is too much and unacceptable). Thank you to all colleagues who worked side by side with me (this means that some only pretended to work and only reaped the benefits) for over 10 years, with faith, dedication, and loyalty to this party whose leaders no longer know or do not want or are not interested (choose what you think is appropriate) in keeping people united in a team they can be proud to be a part of!”, Ana-Maria Ciaușu posted on her Facebook account.
If these words do not say much to those who do not know the situation in the PNL Olt branch, the messages accompanying this text, which Ciaușu addressed to the current branch leader, Deputy Gigel Știrbu, in a conversation on WhatsApp, are surprising. Ciaușu accuses Știrbu and Prefect Mario De Mezzo of trying in various ways to remove her from the position of Deputy Prefect.
First, Deputy Gigel Știrbu allegedly told her to „find a place elsewhere”, and then another strategy was pursued, namely to find out if Ana-Maria Ciaușu still has the legal right to be on sick leave, with everything, according to Ciaușu, being an attempt to „find some reason to remove me from office”.
„You made the prefect check my sick leave, hoping to find some reason to remove me from office. CANCER is the only thing you find!”, Ana-Maria Ciaușu wrote to Deputy Gigel Știrbu.
The resignation of the Deputy Prefect from the party was also published on Facebook and was sent to the new branch leader.
„I am ashamed to comment on such a thing. It is not in my character. Like any person in a certain situation, they need support and compassion. I wish her all the best, good health. And my mother went through this successfully and at the age of 73 she still works in the private sector and goes to work every day,” said Știrbu, to „Adevărul”.
When asked if he asked Deputy Prefect Ana-Maria Ciaușu to leave the Olt Prefecture, Știrbu avoided a direct answer. „God bless her with good health!” repeated the new leader of the PNL Olt. He had the same answer regarding the accusation that the only interest of the current leader of the PNL Olt is to obtain a new mandate as a deputy.
„I won’t comment because I am ashamed to comment in her situation. If I were to comment, I think I would disqualify myself. God bless her with good health!” Știrbu concluded.
