? Care sunt jucătorii de top care vor lua parte la Transylvania Open, în vederea înfruntării cu Sorana Cîrstea la Cluj-Napoca?
Caroline Garcia, Karolina Pliskova, Donna Vekic, and Sorana Cîrstea, top players in the world of tennis, have confirmed their presence at the Transylvania Open (WTA 250) tournament, which will take place from October 16th to 22nd at the Polyvalent Hall in Cluj-Napoca, according to a press release sent by AGERPRES.

Transylvania Open, chosen last year as the best tournament in the world in the WTA 250 category, will feature, alongside Sorana Cîrstea, other Romanian players on the main draw: Patricia Ţig, Ana Bogdan, and Jaqueline Cristian.
French player Caroline Garcia (ranked 11th in the world) is the winner of the Tournament of Champions in 2022 and will have the status of top seed in Cluj-Napoca. Other seeded players will include Croatian Donna Vekic (ranked 21st in the WTA), Sorana Cîrstea (ranked 25th in the WTA), and Czech player Karolína Pliskova (ranked 36th in the WTA), a former world number one in singles.
„We are delighted to have such big names in world tennis confirmed for the new edition of the Transylvania Open, and we are happy to offer the audience a true tennis spectacle. The registration list for the tournament has recently closed, and we are waiting for the final list from WTA officials, but we can already say that we are expecting a very strong tournament.
We have Caroline Garcia, currently ranked 11th, the current winner of the WTA Finals trophy. Sorana Cîrstea, who is in very good form and will play for the first time with us, will also be present at the tournament. Karolina Pliskova, a two-time Grand Slam finalist, will also be there. We can’t wait to see them on the court, and we hope that tennis fans will come in large numbers to enjoy the highest quality tennis,” said Patrick Ciorcilă, director of the Transylvania Open.
The Transylvania Open will begin with two days of qualifiers (October 14th-15th), and the matches will be played indoors, on hard courts, at the BT Arena, on two playing fields. Tennis fans have a limited number of 100 season passes available for access throughout the tournament, from October 16th to 22nd, as well as one-day tickets that provide access to all matches on that particular day, on both playing fields. For the qualifying days, the public has free access, but it will be necessary to issue a zero-value ticket and reserve a seat on the ticketing partner’s website, entertix.ro.
The Transylvania Open will offer 280 WTA points (for the champion) and prizes worth $259,000. In the first two editions of the tournament, the singles trophy was won by Estonian Anett Kontaveit (2021) and Russian Ana Blinkova (2022).
